Don't let Brexit interrupt your business!

The UK officially left the European Union on January 31st, 2020. The end of the “transition period” on December 31st 2020 could impact your REACH registrations (and therefore your EU and UK exports):

• If you are a UK-based importer, or you use an Only Representative based in the UK, your REACH registrations may cease to exist on January 1st, 2020 unless you take action.
• If you export to the UK, your existing EU REACH registrations will no longer apply in the UK. You might need a "UK REACH" registration to remain compliant with UK chemical-safety legislation.

How to preserve your business after Brexit?

Together, Reach Only Representative, and our sister-company Reach Only Representative (Ireland) can help you maintain your REACH compliance (and therefore your exports) in both the UK and EU after Brexit. We can:

• Preserve your existing EU REACH registrations at our Irish office, becoming your EU Only Representative.
• Assist you with UK REACH registrations (when the system comes into force), becoming your UK Only Representative.

What are the deadlines for UK REACH?

If you are a UK entity who has held an EU REACH registration within the 2-year period leading-up to Brexit, your registration can be legally-recognised in the UK system. This is known as “grandfathering”. You must submit details to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) by April 30th, 2021. We can do this for you, as your Third Party Representative.

If you are a UK entity who has been importing/distributing EU REACH registered chemicals within the 2-year period leading-up to Brexit, you can submit a Downstream User Import Notification (DUIN) to HSE by October 27th, 2021. We can do this for you, as your Third Party Representative.

If you are outside the UK, please contact us to find out how we can maintain your access to the UK market, as your UK Only Representative.

You then have 2, 4 or 6 years, depending on your substance and tonnage, to complete your full UK REACH registration.

• Jan 1, 2021: Your EU REACH registration must be transferred to an EU entity such as Reach Only Representative (Ireland) in order to remain valid. People interested in “grandfathering” their registrations or performing DUINs may begin notifying HSE via the “UK Reach-IT” system.
• April 30, 2021: Deadline for submitting details of your EU REACH registrations for grandfathering in to UK-REACH.
• October 27, 2021: Deadline for submitting DUINs into UK-ReachIT.
• 28 October 2023: Deadline for registration of all substances above 1000 MT/year. Deadline for registration of substances above 100 MT/year with aquatic toxicity. Deadline for registration of CMRs above 1 MT/year and any substances that were on the EU’s SVHC candidate list on Dec 31, 2020.
• 28 October 2025: Deadline for registration of all substances above 100 MT/year and any substances that were on the EU’s SVHC candidate list on October 27, 2023.
• 28 October 2027: Deadline for registration of all substances above 1 MT/year.
