SIEF

REACH was introduced to improve knowledge of the properties and uses of substances, in order to reduce any negative impact on human health and the environment. To increase efficiency REACH provides for the formation of Substance Information Fora or SIEF, to enable registrants to share existing knowledge and collectively identify gaps that exist.

SIEF for Pre- Registered Substances

A SIEF will be formed for each pre-registered substance with the same chemical identity. The participants will be the potential registrants. A SIEF is likely to vary in size, a commonly used substance such as ethanol may have a SIEF comprising of more than 5000 registrants, while a speciality substance may have less than 5 members.
